My years in construction began as a painter. The worst part of painting is the preparation because it takes so much of the right preparation to make sure the job is completed right. Sometimes preparation can be tedious, and often it’s the part of our projects that are the least exciting so they tend to drag on at a slow pace, almost to a halt when we are trying to get the preparation done just right. However, good preparation is necessary. Ephesians 2:10 says: For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them. If God had not prepared a way for us to have salvation, all of mankind would be lost today. Instead God gives us an opportunity to accept Him as our Lord and personal Savior through the preparation that He has made through His Son, Jesus Christ.
As we prepare to have our doors open with our building repaired and renewed, we have to take the time to do things right with the correct amount of preparation. If we do not do things right, we will continue to have problems. If you do not pull the weeds out of your garden with the root but instead simply cut them down, they will continue to come back. This is not good preparation.
Here at Campbell Bible Church, we have been preparing for the Lord to do a work in and through our ministry. We have been taking much of what has been worn out and giving it a renewed purpose. With a little effort, you can take most anything and make it new again. Yes, it takes a lot of time, and it also takes sacrifice, but God is always good and faithful to help us in our endeavors.
