God is always good. Always. Philippians 4:19 says: And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
There are many times that when we go through a trial or a circumstance, that we perceive the events as a bad thing or in relationship to God, as an unloving event. However, that is from our limited viewpoint. We are often left with an unknown reason for God allowing something to happen, and sometimes we never really get our answer.
The furnace in our building stopped working and upon further inspection it was revealed that it will likely never work again. The news came two weeks after our pipes burst. My first response was one of: “when it rains, it pours!” But then as I was speaking with the contractor and looking through the pictures of the old unit it hit me that it wasn’t God that wasn’t good, it was my perspective about the situation that was not good. Most furnaces have a lifespan of about 30 years. Ours was an original unit from 1951. It is 2021 and if my math is correct, we were blessed with this furnace for 70 years—more than double the average life!
We also just had our hot water heater replaced. I am told that the average lifespan is 5 years and you’re really lucky if you get 10. Ours was installed in 1991. God has been good to us, and being able to see the blessing in these situations has been a real encouragement!
There may be those who suggest that if God was really good, these items would still be going strong- but nothing on this earth lasts forever. God has been more than gracious to give us exactly what we need, when we need it. We trust in the Lord, and He provides. We see his blessings when we are looking for them.
